Today we’re excited to announce a new theme for photographers, Selfie. We’ve built it to solve the problem in a photographer’s site of having to choose between quick loading and large images. Most photography sites that have lots of large images are slow to load and will cause visitors to leave. Selfie is made so you can efficiently display great images on your home page while keeping your site quick to load.
Homepage
It’s built around a home page that features numerous blocks on the home page that can have a full-screen hero image, plus optional content area and full-screen ligthbox gallery. The advantage of having the theme this way is your visitors will only have to load the “hero” images initially and not all the lightbox images. That keeps the load times down and gives a better user experience for everyone.
Off Canvas Sidebar
We’ve built into Selfie a slide in sidebar and navigation location. This way you can keep your menu out of the way of your photographs, but still quickly accessible for your visitors. There’s also a widget area there so you can add useful information via widgets too.
Robust Blog
What would a great photography site be without a fantastic blog. The blog section in Selfie is great for users who will be posting images and videos. Plus you can customize the colors of every post so your background and text will always match your media and not clash.
Theme Customizer
Selfie also has support for the theme customizer built in. You can quickly add in your logo, and begin choosing colors, over 500 of the best Google Fonts and more. It’s a simple, visual way to set up your site that just works.
