Today we’re excited to announce our latest WordPress theme, Umami. This is our fourth restaurant focused theme and we think it’s the best one yet. It has an attractive design that is easy to customize and flexible too.
Food Menus
With Umami we’ve refined our food menu options even further. You can can customize and display your menus in several different ways. It’s possible to insert menu groups (like categories for posts) with a shortcode or add them directly to your site’s navigation menu. There is also a page template that will display all of your menu groups with all the items in each one.
The food items can also support images. That way you can show pictures of your food, or leave them out. It’s optional on every item so you can use them at will.
Customizer
The WordPress customizer is so easy to use we couldn’t leave it out of Umami. With it you can choose the colors, fonts, your logo and more all while seeing the changes on your site before you make them live. It’s such an easy tool, it makes designing your site fun.
You can easily set a separate background image or slideshow for every page or post on your site. We’ve worked hard to make this simple task trivially easy in Umami.
Mobile Ready
My wife and I love taking in new restaurants, but there’s nothing worse than trying to find a new restaurant and having to do battle with their website that isn’t mobile optimized. To do our part to help, we’ve made Umami responsive so that it looks great on mobile devices. You content is presented in an attractive way and is easy to navigate too. The contact widget places your hours, location and phone number in easy reach of people on the go.
WooCommerce
To make the theme even more useful and flexible, we’ve built in support for the WooCommerce plugin. Now you can easily sell your products online too with this powerful plugin and this great theme. Each product can have its own background image/slideshow, plus a ligthbox gallery as well. It makes Umami great for stores that really want to highlight their content with great imagery.

Hello,
I’m using umami theme for my restaurant website and struggling with ordering menu groups. How can I customize the order of the menu groups, so they appear by the order that I want? Like from starters to desserts? I made menu groups randomly, thinking I could adjust it later, but I couldn’t. I installed the simple page ordering plug-in expecting to fix my issue, but it didn’t work. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Great question. The simple page order plugin will let you sort the individual menu items, but not the menu groups themselves. To change the order of those, you’ll want to use the Category Order and Taxonomy Order plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/taxonomy-terms-order/) which will let you drag and drop those to change their order.
