These are instructions for using my Company Store theme for WordPress:
1. Unzip the file you downloaded. Inside it you will find required plugins and another folder called company. Upload the company folder to your wp-content/themes folder and upload the included plugins to your wp-content/plugins folder.
2. Now inside WordPress, click plugins and activate the plugins you uploaded.
3. After activating the plugins, click on appearance, and activate the “Store” theme.
4. Now a new menu item will appear under appearance called “theme options.” Here you can configure the options you see pictured below:
5. First is the logo. You can use your own logo or simply display the name of your site with text. To use your own logo, go to the Media uploader (it’s between posts and links in your WordPress control panel) to upload your logo. Copy the URL and paste it into the blank to use it. If you’d like to use a Favicon, you can do the same procedure for it next. You can choose to have a drop down menu for your categories next.
6. Next comes choosing which categories to display on three different page styles: Blog, product and your home page. You can also choose how many posts to show on your home page.
7. Next comes shopping options: include the shopping cart icon and the url for your cart.
8. The theme includes the option to have Demo and Buy buttons displayed on the home page. You can also name these what you’d like.
9. Another option that you can configure in the control panel is to include Google analytics or some other statistic tracking solution. To include it, just choose yes, and paste the code that analytics provides into the box. Click save settings and your theme is customized.
10. Lastly, you can choose to have your own background image and color used. Upload your new background image and copy the URL (like you did with your logo above). Now select use custom background option and paste the image URL into the box. You can choose how it is to be repeated and whether it will scroll or remain fixed. You need to specify a background color for visitors who have images turned off. You can also use this box to change your link colors if you’d like to.
In order to have items appear on the home page of your site, you will need to create a post that corresponds to each of them. The Simple Post Thumbnail plugin that is included with the theme adds a box to every edit post screen where you can upload a thumbnail. The thumbnail will be automatically resized for the front page. If you are using this theme to sell items, you can also use the product post template. This will give you a large version of the thumbnail on the post when it is displayed, plus it features a place for price, demo and purchase links built into the sidebar.
