Mountain View Church

November 20, 2008 by Bill Robbins

I finally have a release of my Mountain View Church theme to give you guys.  Happily I have had a good bit of custom work lately, so my free theme work has been pushed back a bit.  As always, if you want something more quickly, you can hire me and I’ll be sure to get it to you much more quickly.

This theme is being released as a beta version.  There is still some work that I would like to do to it, but it is usable out of the box as is.  I have put in these features to get you started.

A few notes about the design.  I have not included a fix for the Internet Explorer 6 transparency bug.  From my point of view IE 6 is 7 years old, and there are several free alternatives that people can use (including two newer versions of Internet Explorer) so I’m not going to add support for it right now.  The site will still be functional on IE 6, but it will not look as good.  You can add support for IE 6 if you don’t mind getting into the code of the site a bit yourself, or you can hire me to customize this theme for you and I’ll add it in for you.  Just contact me and we’ll set out to make what you’ve been wanting.

You can see a demo of Mountain View Church here.

If have any suggestions on how I can improve this theme for the future, please leave me a comment and I’ll try to incorporate them into the final release.

Modern Church Theme

Modern Church Theme

Many churches just want a simple web presence where they can showcase the current message series as well as let members know what is happening.  To help fill that need, I have created the “Modern Church Theme.”  It is a simple and clean design, but still could be used to house a great deal of content.

The main page it features a prominent spot for this week’s current message, or the current series.  Below that there is a three part section to feature current announcements, recent podcasts, and entries from a blog.  Any of this can be adapted to feature any post category you want.

For the inside pages, the header is smaller without the current message showing.  I choose a simple one column layout, and by making it wide, you have lots of room available for pictures or graphics to go with your text.  Being one column doesn’t mean the sidebar is missing, it is simply placed below the main content, above the footer.  There is a spot on the left hand side where a brief message from the church can be placed.  On the right is an area for widgets.  Use the widgets section of the design panel in your WordPress dashboard to add anything you would like to go there.

You can see a demo of “Modern Church” here.

I am providing this theme free of charge to help churches all of the world be able to have a website that they can update and maintain themselves.  If you do download this theme and use it, please leave a link in the comment area below.

Like all of my themes, this one is highly customizable.  I would be glad to help you out.  Just click here to learn more about customization.

Cross Gate Church Theme

October 7, 2008 by Bill Robbins

Organized Themes is proud to release our second free theme for churches–Cross Gate Church.  We designed Cross Gate from the ground up to be simple, but scaleable so that even large congregations could make use of all it has to offer.

Out of the box, this theme features

  1. An announcement rotator for your biggest news.
  2. Three dedicated buttons for potential visitors to your church below the announcement rotator.
  3. A what’s happening section that displays your three next calendar events, or entries from your church blog.
  4. A podcasting section that will display your last three podcast entries (you will need to add one of the podcast plugins available for free at www.wordpress.org/extend/plugins
  5. Clean modern design.

It’s hard to believe you get all of this for free.  You can customize Cross Gate if you know a bit about CSS.  If you don’t we would be glad to help you.  This design can be pushed and pulled until it becomes pretty much whatever you’re looking for.

You can view a demo of Cross Gate here.

Please consider donating some money if you have found this theme helpful. It will help me to be able to do more development on my current themes and the future ones I have planned.

If you download this theme, please leave me a comment about what you think of it along with the url of the site that you are using it on.  Thanks.

Northridge Church Theme

October 7, 2008 by Bill Robbins

We are pleased to share our Northridge Church WordPress Theme with you.  Until recently, I had served as an assistant pastor for six years and through that I understand how difficult it has been for many churches to find a website solution that is affordable and that they can update themselves.  Many churches have turned to WordPress, but often times they end up with a site that looks like a blog.

I made Northridge to be a clean, modern theme.  It features easy navigation and an image rotator that ties into announcements, ministries or just pictures of your church right on the front page.  Updating is simple and requires no special software.

This theme is easy to adapt and can be customized to fit the style of your church.  If you are already working with a designer or are a designer yourself, you will find adapting the theme straightforward.

Since I designed this theme, it is a simple matter for me to make any changes you might desire.  Here are three examples of how the Northridge Theme can be adapted to suit your church’s needs.  Click here to learn more about what Organized Themes can do to customize your church’s website to better suit your needs.

If you find this theme helpful, please consider donating whatever you feel is appropriate.  This will help me to continue development on all of my current and future themes.  Thanks.

If you download the theme, please leave me a comment about what you think of it along with the url of the site that you are using it on.  Thanks.

Hopefully this theme will help your church be able to effectively communicate with your community.  If I can help at all with the use of this theme, just leave me a comment and I’ll respond quickly.
