Announcing Photobug

For some time I’ve been wanting to release a theme that would help photographers, and artists show off their images in a great way. So I created Photobug just for that. At its heart, Photobug utilizes multiple layouts to keep the presentation of your images interesting for your visitors.

You can post single images.
You can post galleries.
You can post videos.
You can decide if you’d like the gallery on the left, on the right or below your content.
You can choose to have your featured image on top, on the left or on the right of your content.
Portrait, landscape or someplace in between your images, even in the gallery will fit and look great.

Built-in Sharing

Social sharing is huge, so we’ve included the Sharre script that lets your users easily share your content via Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest without slowing down your site. It only loads the buttons when a user hovers over the share link. It even counts your “shares” across networks and adds them up for you.

It’s Mobile Friendly

Photobug uses a responsive design so it will look great on everything from smartphones, to tablets, to notebooks and desktops. Even the pop-up lightbox is responsive. Your visitors can easily take in your content where ever they are and share it on the spot too. Photobug also uses the great Masonry script so your images will arrange neatly regardless of how they are oriented.

Help Visitors Connect

Photobug features several ways to help your visitors connect with you. We’ve included an about widget that features your picture, a spot for content about you as well as links to numerous social media sites. There is also an optional MailChimp newsletter that can be used in the About widget.

There is also a easy to use portfolio page template that allows you to neatly display your best work on page.

Customization

Photobug also includes two basic color styles–light and dark, plus seven different lightbox styles for you to choose from. It also allows you to choose your own header and background images/color as well as many other styling items you’d want to change. Plus you can do all of that from inside our easy to use theme options page. Photobug even includes 12 different backgrounds to help you get started.
